CameraControl

With DAZ Adding it's own support for 3Dconnexion this plugin is no longer being updated at this time.

CameraControl adds support for 3Dconnexion navigation devices to DAZ Studio. Supported devices include the SpaceNavigatortm and SpaceExplorertm. By moving the navigator device you can pan up & down, dolly, tilt, spin, and bank the selected camera inside DAZ Studio. The plugin supports an orbit as well as rotation mode. Buttons on the navigator device can be mapped to a choice of reset camera, aim camera, frame camera, open CameraControl option panel, toggle rotation mode, and render. Scale controls inside the plugin allow you to tune it specifically for use in DAZ Studio.

CameraControl is only available for the Windows platform and requires a 3Dconnexion compatible device.

Once installed you'll find its option panel under the Tools menu. A readme file is available in the plugin about box (Help->About Installed Plugins).

As of DAZ Studio 2.2.2.17 Studio has built in support for the 3dConnexxion hardware. But it's not very good. If you would rather use CameraControl you will need to delete or remove the DAZ plugin, it is plugins\dz3dconnexion.dll

When using CameraControl it's recommended you try to make sure the windows mouse cursor is not over any of the viewports(the 3d windows that show the scene). When the cursor is over a viewport and the screen moves, DAZ Studio will try to figure out what you are hoovering over. This takes a bit of time and will result in a pause/hiccup. By making sure the cursor is not over a viewport when using CameraControl your motion will be smoother.

8/24/2008 1.0.0.12 DAZ Studio 2.3.3.37 made some changes to how it shuts down plugins resulting in CameraControl crashing when you try to exit. This build fixes that problem. This build is good for any version of DAZ Studio 2.0 and above.
6/28/2008 1.0.0.11 Now supports a no undo mode for speed. Also works with Studio's Manipulation Draw Style mode. This build works with DAZ Studio 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2.2.17 but NOT earlier 2.2 builds. For 2.2.2.17 you must move or delete the DAZ plugin, two plugins cannot both access the 3dconnexion at the same time.

12/15/2007 1.0.0.9 This build only changes the orbit mode to more exactly match DAZ Studio's native orbit camera controls. The Orbit now uses the camera's(or view's) focal distance to determine the orbit point. It also updates the focal distance the same way DAZ Studio does when moving the camera. It should make switching between the built in camera control tool bar and the 3Dconnexion device seamless.
